Hi Jamie! Thank you so much for your interest in getting involved with CCUA! Unfortunately, missing half of each session would cause you to miss a lot of great material in the Greenhorn internship. For this reason, it would be best for you to join us at our volunteer workdays instead. We hope to see you at these workdays and at many of our other opportunities this season! Feel free to email me at education@columbiaurbanag.org with any more questions.

I'm interested in applying, but july 1-26 I have a summer school course from 9:50-11:50AM. Would this make the internship possible or will volunteering be my only option?

Maggie,

CCUA's Opportunity Gardens Program does help establish gardens for institutions that serve disadvantaged populations. You can find out more about this program here: www.columbiaurbanag.org/education/opportunity-gardens/

If you want to contact the CGC (a different organization), you will need to do so through their website, which is www.comogardens.org

Hi there!

My name is Maggie Siebert, and I am a student at the University of Missouri working on a Masters of Social Work degree. This semester, I am completing an internship at Welcome Home, Inc., which is a non-profit shelter for homeless Veterans. Each year, a small plot in the back of our shelter is made available for our Veterans to plant tomatoes, peppers, etc., in order to harvest their own food. My supervisor and I were talking about doing a presentation about nutrition with our Veterans and addressing the myths that low-income individuals do not have the opportunity to eat healthily. We were looking at your website and found the CGC to be extremely interesting! I was just wondering if the CGC helped to establish gardens at agencies such as Welcome Home, and if so, if I could get a bit more information on that.

Thank you very much, and have a lovely weekend!
