Internship Program

The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture is seeking dedicated interns for our 2013 growing season! 2013 internships at CCUA will be following a new and exciting model, so it is important that each intern brings a willingness to learn and work together to the farm each visit. Farm work is difficult and interns should be prepared to work in inclement weather (rain, snow, and Missouri summer heat), regularly bend and crouch, and lift 50+ pounds. The farming lifestyle at CCUA’s Urban Farm is inviting and friendly. Our interns must be committed to participating in and developing our community of farmers, both in CCUA and in our local food system. There are two types of internships available:

  • The Garden Greenhorn Internship is for beginners. Want to gain experience in urban agriculture, but are not sure where to start? Apply to become a part of our Garden Greenhorn internship group! You will have the opportunity to learn the basics about urban farm production, marketing, local food policy, and community involvement.  Upon completion of the program, Garden Greenhorns will be able to move on to become Garden Ace’s!
  • The Garden Ace Internship is for those with previous experience. Think you have what it takes to make a long term commitment to a CCUA project? We welcome applications from those with experience to be a part of our Garden Ace specialized intern group. Our Garden Aces are tried and true volunteers that are ready to take on special projects of their own to help CCUA staffers provide top notch programs and services to the Columbia community.

These internships are available for class credit, but anyone seeking to participate in urban agriculture is encouraged to apply! Each application will be considered, and applicants will be contacted by CCUA staff for a personal interview. Spots are filling up fast, so apply now!

Our Spring cohort is already underway and our Summer cohort is FULL! Please direct your applications to the Fall cohort for Greenhorn and Ace Internships!
