Programs: Demonstration Garden

CCUA's Demonstration Garden.

If you think you need a huge yard to create a bountiful garden, think again. At the CCUA Demonstration Garden – located at the corner of Ash Street and St. Joseph Street – we have over one hundred varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs on display. Feel free to visit the garden and take a look around at your leisure or drop by during our volunteer hours and learn a variety of techniques for making your own garden plentiful.

Since 2008 CCUA has maintained a demonstration garden in downtown Columbia, housing hundreds of fruits, vegetables, berries, herbs, and flowers. A self-guided tour is available year-round, changing with the seasons, to make the garden interpretive when CCUA volunteers and staff are not present.

In an urban setting you must be space efficient,
plants in the demonstration garden are trained up
trellises up to 12’ high.

The Demonstration Garden began as a small empty lot,
the size of many Columbian’s back yards.
